Family drama (cont.)

An update on my cousin: she's still in a coma, but she shows increased brain activity when she's being spoken to, which indicates that on a subconscious level she recognizes sounds. It's not much but it's something. Her future is still very up in the air, and I recently learned that while she did have traces of illegal drugs in her system (namely marijuana and cocaine), it was prescription pills -- psychotropic pills -- she OD'd on. My aunt told me she swallowed two bottles worth. It's looking more and more like an attempted suicide rather than an accidental OD. The doctors have said that if she pulls through, she'll be looking at many years in a mental health facility, and as much as I hate to say it, I'm not in opposition to that. She's done too many drastic things -- this just being the latest -- to be trusted to take care of herself.
